Realism Artist
My work is based on my own photographs using
monochromatic soft pastels.
I've always been drawn to black and white photography, feeling that it has a
timeless quality and is able to convey great emotion. This fact led me to take
photography classes and work for a professional photographer. The idea of
combining the two things that I love -- artwork and photography -- seemed a
natural transition.
I would not consider my work to be bold or abrasive, but rather tranquil. I find
restful subjects to be most appealing. My work varies from landscapes to still
lifes, yet the human face remains my favorite subject.
I find the entire process of my work to be most fulfilling -- from taking the
initial photograph through the finished artistic rendering.
